Capron Ridge, the honest version.
Four hundred thirty-four homes across seven Irish-named villages, a real 1837 trail behind the name, and a third-party fee figure that contradicts itself closely enough that I am not printing it.
Seven villages, one 1837 trail.
Capron Ridge sits off Viera Boulevard between US-1 and Murrell Road, confirmed independent of Viera, not on either master association's own published list. The name has a genuine, documented origin: per the homeowners association's own history page, the land was originally platted under a different name and later renamed for the Capron-Hernandez Trail, a roughly two-hundred-mile road completed in 1837 connecting St. Augustine to Fort Pierce, which crossed this site. The community itself is built as seven distinctly named villages, Ashford Harbour, Cashel Village, Dublin Manor, Dunraven, Gallaway Glen, Tralee Bay Shores, and The Villas at Capron Ridge, each named for a real place in Ireland, developed in phases from 2005 through the community's final and most exclusive section, Tralee Bay Shores, water and preserve-view lots built out later in the timeline. I found no primary source confirming a construction halt during the 2008 crash specifically, so I am not asserting one, the sourced story is simply a long, phased buildout, not an interruption.
What 434 homes look like on paper.
I keep the full Brevard property roll on hand, every parcel, not a listing-site sample. This is all of Capron Ridge as the county appraiser sees it, across 8 recorded plats.

Three Capron Ridge realities to price in.
A fee figure exists online, and I am deliberately not repeating it
One third-party source cites a specific dollar assessment for this community while separately stating the community has no CDD at all, which cannot both be true the way that source presents it. Rather than guess which half is right, I am printing neither. Pull the actual parcel tax record from the Brevard County Property Appraiser's site, or get the HOA disclosure on a specific listing, before you budget around any number you find online.
Seven villages can mean seven slightly different experiences
Ashford Harbour, Cashel Village, Dublin Manor, Dunraven, Gallaway Glen, Tralee Bay Shores and The Villas at Capron Ridge were built in different phases across roughly fifteen years, with Tralee Bay Shores as the later, more exclusive water and preserve-view section. A listing in one village is not necessarily representative of the whole community's build quality, lot size or price point. Ask which specific village a home sits in, not just "Capron Ridge."
The community's own flood story is worth knowing, and worth verifying on your specific lot
The HOA's own history page states the community retained all its water without flooding during Tropical Storm Fay in 2008, a storm that dropped twenty-four to forty-eight inches of rain regionally. That is a genuinely useful resilience data point, but it describes the community's stormwater system as a whole, not a guarantee for any individual lot. Pull the flood zone for the specific address regardless.
Three things I could not source.
Three things I would rather show you the gap on than fill with a self-contradicting figure.
Whether a CDD applies, and any assessment figure
As above, the one source I found contradicts itself on this point. Pull the parcel's actual tax record directly rather than trusting either half of that claim.
The HOA dues figure
The association's own site confirms governing documents exist but does not publish a dollar amount. Confirm directly with the HOA or from a specific listing's disclosure.
Your school zoning and flood zone
Both assigned by address, not by subdivision, and both get redrawn. A community spread across seven villages and 8 plats can split across attendance zones at the edges. Verify the exact address with Brevard Public Schools, and pull the flood zone at FEMA's Map Service Center. My flood zone guide walks through what it means for your insurance bill.
If it is a gated community you are shopping.
St Andrews Manor, also in Melbourne, runs a newer, smaller gated story at a higher price point, worth comparing if amenities matter more than the historic-village layout here. The Melbourne guide covers the wider market.
Questions people actually ask.
Where does the name Capron Ridge come from?
Per the homeowners association's own history page, the land was originally platted under a different name, and was renamed for the Capron-Hernandez Trail, a roughly two-hundred-mile road completed in 1837 connecting St. Augustine to Fort Pierce, which crossed this site. That is a real, documented namesake, not a marketing invention.
What are the seven villages inside Capron Ridge?
Per the HOA's own site: Ashford Harbour, Cashel Village, Dublin Manor, Dunraven, Gallaway Glen, Tralee Bay Shores, and The Villas at Capron Ridge, each named for a real place in Ireland. Tralee Bay Shores was the community's final and most exclusive phase, seventy-two homesites on water and preserve-view lots.
Is Capron Ridge connected to Viera?
No. I checked both Viera master associations' own published lists, the Central Viera Community Association's 38-community neighborhoods page and the separate Viera East Community Association's 20-community list, and Capron Ridge appears on neither. It is genuinely independent Melbourne.
Does Capron Ridge have a CDD, and what is the HOA fee?
I could not verify either from a primary source. The HOA's own site confirms governing documents exist but publishes no dollar figure. One third-party blog cites a specific dollar assessment while separately describing the community as having no CDD at all, an internal contradiction I could not resolve from that source, so I am not printing either claim. Pull the actual parcel tax record from the Brevard County Property Appraiser's site or get the HOA disclosure on a specific listing before you budget around a number.
Looking at a Capron Ridge listing? No pressure.
Tell me the address and I will pull the real parcel tax record before you trust a fee figure from a source that contradicts itself. No drip campaign, no calls.
